The Haverstad (Southern Common: النيل‎, pronounced an-nīl iteru, Druidic : Phiatro) is a major river on The Southern Continent, generally regarded as the second longest river in the world.

The Haverstad in the high country starts just south of Heaven's Pass, Nyasa, and flows downward through the continental divide until it reaches the low country between the Nubian Sea and Nyasa's Victory. It brings with it a massive amount of nutrients and minerals down from the mountains, and the water is used to fertilize many of the crops that feed the Nyasa Civilization. Although the northern waters between Heaven's Pass and Nyasa's Reach are wild, thin, and full of rapids to the point of near impossibility, by Nyasa's Reach the waters are quite deep and sailable. There is frequent transit between Port Nyasa and Nyasa's Reach via this waterway, often by raft or riverboat.

Like many areas on the Southern Continent, Haverstad is ruled by a local place god. Haverstad, the person, is an unruly, chaotic, prideful, jealous maculine god who often manifests as a bald humanoid with slightly blue skin riding a large wave. He possesses several legendary crowns of dragon control and the Chariot of the Waters, which, legend goes, he rides each month down the entire length of the river and in his path the water swells to flood the surrounding land.
